Pastor Cheri
PRAYER
The entrance of your Word Lord, gives us light and understanding today. We receive your Word gladly and run with it, in the Name of Jesus.
COMMISSIONED FOR SOULWINNING
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).
Shortly before the Lord Jesus ascended, He commissioned the Church to preach the Gospel to all men that they might receive eternal life. This is the ministry of reconciliation, which has been committed to our trust. Every Christian has a ministry to fulfil in soul winning; it’s our conscious lifestyle. We’re called to turn men to righteousness; to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God.
There’s no better way to express your love for Jesus Christ than to win souls for Him; the souls for whom He died. He gave His life for all men, and if you were the only one that needed salvation, He would still have come to die for you. He didn’t do it because we were many; He did it because we were valuable to God. Therefore, soul winning is worth everything. God’s number one passion is soul winning; therefore, put everything into it. Be active, very active, in the ministry of reconciliation.
2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
In Luke 19:10, Jesus said, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”
EMPOWERED FOR SOULWINNING
“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31).
The only serious evidence that shows anyone has genuinely received the Holy Spirit is soul winning; dynamic evangelism. Everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit speaks the Word with boldness.
The Word enjoins us not only to receive the Holy Spirit, but to be filled with Him continually (Ephesians 5:18 AMPC).
Jesus said, “…If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink” (John 7:37).
Having drunk of Him, what should follow? He gave the answer in the very next verse: “…out of his (your) belly shall flow rivers (gushers) of living water” (John 7:38).
The evidence that you’ve drunk of the Spirit is the gushers—the fountain of words of life that flow from you to the world.
The most consistent thing that happened after men were filled with the Holy Spirit in Bible days was that they spoke the Word of God with boldness. When the apostles had prayed and got filled with the Holy Spirit, as read in our theme verse, the result was that they spoke the Word with boldness! Their lives manifested that glory to win souls.
The Holy Spirit came into your life to make you a witness. Jesus said: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” (Acts 1:8). If you’re timid about preaching the Gospel, it means you haven’t recognized the Holy Spirit in your life, because the Spirit grants you boldness to stand up for Jesus Christ. You can’t have the Holy Spirit and not know how to win souls.
OUR LORD JESUS - THE MASTER SOULWINNER
“…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Soul winning was Jesus’ lifestyle.
On a certain occasion, as He passed through Samaria on His way from Judea to Galilee, He needed to rest a bit; so He sat at a well, while His disciples went to get some food.
While at the well, a woman came to draw water, and Jesus began to preach the Good News to her (Read John 4). Jesus encountered this woman and brought her out of her shell—the feeling that she was “nobody.” Despite being a total stranger to her, He gave her a new self-value. The Bible tells us to follow His example (1 Peter 2:21).
Sometimes, there’re those that we have to reach out to. You may notice someone who’s sitting quietly in a corner somewhere, and you pull a chair and sit beside that one, and say, “Can I be of help to you?” Then in the process, minister the Gospel to that one.
There’s the one who’s alone and seems helpless; then you come by, sit with him or her and you lead them to Christ. Don’t ignore them and act like they’re not there. Become concerned about their plight. Your life is all about being an effective witness for Jesus Christ. You represent Him in your world.
Your lifestyle and actions before non-Christians should, and must, be such that endear Christ to them, to believe and receive the Gospel. Your job is to win them and bring them into the Kingdom.
1. Every day, talk to others about Jesus. (Mark 16:15).
Do it in your neighborhood, in your estate, and then go beyond. You can say, “In the Name of Jesus, I claim ten souls for Jesus Christ today, by the power of the Holy Spirit!” And after making that declaration of faith, you go out for evangelism. WE ARE HOLDING OUR GROUP CRUSADE IN A FEW DAYS, WHAT A BLESSED OPPORTUNITY TO WIN MULTITUDES OF SOULS INTO THE KINGDOM. BE A VITAL PART OF IT
2. Sponsor the preaching of the gospel. (Matt 24:14, Psalm 35:27).
There are places you might not be able to get to physically; you can reach them through partnership and sponsorship of the distribution of Gospel materials, such as Rhapsody of Realities. Today you have the opportunity to sponsor copies of the Rhapsody for local and world evangelism. Seize this great opportunity.
3. Intercede for the souls of men (2 Corinthians 4:4).
If you’re going to lead many to Christ, evangelizing your world in a remarkable way, you’d have to labor in intercession. The Bible says Satan, the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those that don’t believe so their hearts won’t receive the light of the Gospel
There’s a depth in God you’ll never know until you begin to win souls; therefore, be excited to do it. As you do, you’d enjoy the glory and blessedness of Christianity, beyond what you ever thought possible. Praise God!
